Friends and family were driven by concern and fear, and tried to discourage her from pursuing that dream. It was, without question, the scariest decision she had ever made — doubt whispered in her ear the whole way. But without the safety net of that support system, she found she had to become her own source of strength.

Her travels began with a mattress thrown in the back of a 1990 Suburban. Alone on the road for the first time in her life, she discovered reserves of strength she didn't know she had. Over the next six years she traveled to 49 states, learned new trades, and slowly built a career around something she truly loved.

Her life came to a halt when she met her abuser on the road, and very nearly lost everything. Nomadic Homes gave her the strength to take her power back. Today, Courtney is an outspoken advocate against domestic violence, and she's built a woman-owned business dedicated to helping other women find the same independence and freedom she fought so hard for.

She's built and lived in six of her own conversions — every design decision on a Nomadic Homes build comes from lived experience, not theory. When she's not in the shop, you can find her working on art projects with her partner and her dog.
